Lecturing
The bulk of the site is devoted to my writing. I also work as a lecturer, something I've done continually for over twenty years. During this time I've worked in both Further and Higher Education, developing courses and managing a Media section in a college for ten years. I also work as a freelance lecturer.
A few edited highlights of this work are covered here.
HND PROFESSIONAL WRITING:
The course I dreamed of starting for years. The UK's first full–time Higher Education course in Professional Writing. Started at North West Kent College in 1999 and run in association with The University of Greenwich. To date three full–length radio plays have started life as student work on this course along with journalism, research work and radio features.
A course based on teaching the skills of the professional writer. Students learn everything from the specifics of a press release to the varied forms a submission for a major work — like a novel — might take. Former students currently work in publishing, television, exhibition design and other areas related to the printed and broadcast word.

FOUNDATION DEGREE IN MUSEUM AND GALLERY STUDIES:
The latest project. An innovative project to combine work placements and education in a course designed to help those already in the industry and those wishing to join. This course would also be a first at this level.
Scheduled to start at North West Kent College in September 2004. Watch the college's web site for details.

SPECIALIST LECTURES
Like my writing this part of my working life has taken some strange and unpredictable turns over the years. I do set lectures on a number of subjects including CD packaging design, the music industry, UFOs and professional writing.
Most of these subjects are negotiable and can easily be adapted for the needs of an audience.
I've lectured to groups of several hundred at major events like the Fortean Times Unconvention and given talks to small groups. I've faced audiences as varied as out–patients with psychiatric problems, an astronomy society and senior managers in local government.
If you need more information on this subject please contact me. I'm always happy to consider new audiences and new challenges in this area.
Details of my UFO lecturing are kept on the web by the UFO Info site
